FAQ – Dashboard data

Can a profile have external sources?

A profile can have multiple external sources. These sources almost always have also a specific ID for the profile in their system. These ID’s are maintained in the Mi8 so that we can determine if a profile has been imported before. A profile can thus have multiple external ID’s associated with them. These are not visible in the system and are not searchable.

Is there autocomplete in Mi8?

In a lot of places in Mi8 there are combo fields. Combo fields are both dropdown and auto complete fields in one. Some of the lists in dropdowns are quite long, for instance in the search functionality, we recommend using the auto complete in those cases.

How do you delete an item?

Deleting items from Mi8 can be done by using the context menu in the data-table and selecting the delete option. You will be shown a screen with all, or most, properties of the item you are about to delete.

Note not all items can be deleted!

If the process is different from the one described here the manual will deal with the specific case.

How do you bring up the context menu?

Almost all data-table entries have a context menu. Right click (hold button pressed on Mac) on a row in the data-table will present you with a menu that enables more actions for the selected row.
By default the double click (single click on Mac) action is “view”.

Depending on your permissions and on the data type you will be presented with a menu like the picture below. Other options might be available.

How to read a data-table

Data-tables are used a lot in Mi8 for displaying information in a way that is useful and performs fast.

A: The amount of results, if there are that many, that are shown on a single page in the table.

B: The search field. This field can be used to filter the results in the data-table. In the appendix of this manual there is a list of all the fields the search uses.

C: The column that is sorted. Almost all columns can be sorted both ascending and descending. All data-tables have a default sorting to provide useful information as fast as possible.

D: The paging of the data-table.

E: The amount of profiles that match the criteria out of the total. The amount selected at A is shown; the rest will be added in the form of paging.

How do you mark or annotate an action?

Actions like a campaign can be marked in Mi8. Under settings you will find the actions menu item. The result for adding an action to the system is that in every line graph annotations will be added at the specific dates. This makes it easy to look back and helps interpret data when it is data from some time ago.

A: The numeral denotes the annotation for an action that has been performed and marked in Mi8. If an action spans a time then two identical numerals will be shown.

When you hover over the numeral, a text popup will provide you with more information about the performed action.

What kind of tables and comparisons are there in dashboards

In a lot of tables in the dashboards a comparison is given for the chosen period. Data over the selected period is compared to the previous period and the same period last year.

The color of the comparison denotes if this is a positive or negative comparison.

Green is for a positive comparison.

Red is for a negative comparison.

In the picture below the previous period is orange and the selected period is blue. The previous period is always directly adjacent to the selected range and consists of the same amount of days.

The previous period provides information about short-term trends.

Last year:

The ‘year period’ is the same as the selected period, one year before.

The ‘last year period’ provides information about long-term trends and has the benefit of eliminating most of the seasonal influences.
